Riding Safety Gear Requirements

Riding Gear


The Rider Training Institute (RTI) maintains its commitment to safe, sensible and enjoyable motorcycling by enforcing strict policies regarding the use of appropriate safety gear through all its training programs.

Please note the basic riding gear requirements for ALL RTI programs:


  • D.O.T or Snell approved helmet; we recommend a full-face style
  • Leather jacket, riding jacket (with armour) or a heavy denim jacket without any holes or tears
  • Heavy denim or leather pants covering the ankles
  • Heavy Leather gloves covering the wrist bone
  • Suitable leather motorcycling or hiking boots covering the ankles. Cowboy boots or work boots are also acceptable.
